Thanks to 44 fabulous supporter/funders/believers of our crowdfunding campaign, “Lucia Joyce: Full Capacity”, short film starring Evanna Lynch as Lucia, choreographed by Megan Kennedy of Junk Ensemble, with costume by Claire Garvey, photography by Mella Travers, and editing by Aoife Carey is well underway.  We are extremely grateful and look forward to sharing the finished product when it is ready.

Here is a taster of what is to come in a digital scan of Mella Travers’s limited edition large format photograph of Evanna channeling Lucia, emulating Berenice Abbott’s iconic 1928 photograph of Lucia in her self-made silver fish costume:

In other news I was delighted to be awarded funding in the latest round of Broadcasting Authority of Ireland Sound & Vision Fund (round 32), to make a feature radio documentary about Lucia Joyce for broadcast later this year.

I’m also looking forward to giving a short talk on Lucia at “Lucia Joyce: Perspectives” at TCD Long Room Hub on April 13th, and to presenting on Lucia Joyce’s Modern Dance Career at Bloomsday Croatia in Pula this June.  We will get Lucia Joyce into the pantheon of 20th Century Irish Cultural History, where she belongs, yet!
