Merci to the French Embassy in Ireland for inviting me to present an illustrated talk entitled  “Lucia Joyce in Paris” at the Alliance Française on Bloomsday this year.  It was a delight to share the highlights of my month at Centre Culturel Irlandais, walking in Lucia Joyce’s Parisian footsteps last year.  When Lucia was born on July 26th, 1907, the name of the midwife who delivered her, believe it or not, was “Paris”!  That was certainly an omen of how important this magical city, where she spent approximately 22 years of her life overall, was to become for her.  I was absolutely thrilled of course to see the huge interest in this topic, judging by the fact that the talk was absolutely packed, and the Q & A afterwards was extremely lively.   Vive la France!

Earlier the same morning, I was invited to read the first few pages of my creative biography of Lucia Joyce at Ranelagh Arts, as part of their Bloomsday Readings – a lovely way to start the day.

Previously, on Wednesday June 4th, I was delighted to contribute again to the virtual book club #Ulyssesin80 in a zoom conversation that is now available as a podcast here:
